Clinical Use:
Diagnosis of Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia is based on clinical criteria but serological confirmation is often necessary. The ELISA assay measures the Platelet Factor 4/Heparin Complex to IgG. When the ELISA test is positive, testing by Serotonin Release Assay (a platelet activation assay) is more predictive of thrombocytopenia and thrombosis
