Clinical Use:

The analysis of carnitines is indicated in patients who exhibit the following: failure to thrive, hypotonia, chronic muscle weakness, cardiomyopathy, intermittent episodes of weakness and encephalopathy, renal Fanconi’s syndrome, hypoglycemic episodes, metabolic acidosis, or hypoketotic dicarboxylic acidurias.

0.3 mL

Red-top tube, gel-barrier tube, or green-top (heparin) tube

Collection:

Transfer separated serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube and freeze. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
