Red-top tube or gel-barrier tube or lavender-top (EDTA) tube

Patient Preparation: 

Fasting is preferred


Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within 45 minutes of venipuncture. Submit specimen in a plastic transport tube.

Storage Instructions:

Refrigerated (preferred) or room temperature. Stable at room temperature or refrigerated for six days. Stable for three years frozen.

Rejection Criteria

Hemolysis • Lipemia • Icteric • Received room temperature
