As the world continues to adapt to the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, accurate and timely diagnostic testing remains essential to protecting public health. At MCI Diagnostic Center, we understand that confidence begins with clarity. By leveraging advanced laboratory technologies and strategic partnerships, we continue to deliver high-quality, reliable testing solutions that support communities, healthcare providers, and public health initiatives nationwide.
The RT-PCR test (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) remains the gold standard for detecting SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. This molecular diagnostic test identifies the presence of viral RNA in upper respiratory specimens, providing highly accurate results that guide timely clinical decisions. MCI Diagnostic Center utilizes the Abbott m2000 and BD Max RT-PCR (EUA) platforms—systems designed to deliver precision at scale. The Abbott m2000 operates continuously, processing up to 3,000 tests per day, while the BD Max system completes test cycles every three hours. Together, these instruments allow our laboratory to maintain exceptional throughput without compromising accuracy.
For cases where speed is critical, rapid antigen testing offers a complementary approach to molecular testing. This method detects specific viral proteins and is most effective during the early stages of infection, when viral load is highest. At MCI, antigen tests are processed using BD’s Veritor System, providing results in approximately 15 minutes. While less sensitive than molecular assays, rapid antigen tests remain a valuable diagnostic tool for symptomatic individuals and in high-demand screening environments such as schools, healthcare facilities, and workplace settings.
Antibody testing serves a distinct but equally important role in assessing immune response to prior infection. By detecting the presence of antibodies in the blood, these assays provide insight into an individual’s exposure history and immune status. MCI Diagnostic Center performs antibody testing using the Cobas 6000 (Roche) and Diasorin Liaison XL analyzers—both recognized for their precision and reliability. Each test delivers results in approximately 30 minutes, supporting both clinical evaluation and broader epidemiological understanding. It is important to note that antibody tests are not intended to diagnose active infection but to evaluate immune response over time.
MCI Diagnostic Center remains dedicated to advancing diagnostic excellence through innovation, scientific rigor, and collaboration. Our ongoing commitment to accuracy and accessibility reinforces our role as a trusted partner in public health. By integrating proven technologies with experienced laboratory practices, we help organizations and communities make informed decisions that safeguard health and promote resilience.
