DALLAS, May 19, 2023MCI Diagnostic Center extends its sincere gratitude to the City of Dallas and the Department of Aviation for their outstanding partnership and commitment to public health throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, these efforts safeguarded countless lives across the Dallas community and set a new standard for collaboration between public agencies and private laboratories.

“The City of Dallas launched the initiative to do what it takes to protect residents. MCI is both publicly and privately grateful that the City of Dallas presented us with the opportunity to perform COVID-19 testing for them,” said Dr. Colleen J. Payne-Nabors, CEO of MCI Diagnostic Center.

As the nation’s largest Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Laboratory, MCI Diagnostic Center partnered with the City of Dallas in 2021 to support crisis management efforts at the height of the pandemic. The collaboration aimed to address the needs of more than 1.2 million residents who required reliable and accessible COVID-19 testing.

Through this partnership, MCI provided mobile in-home testing for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations unable to access testing facilities. To enhance convenience and public safety, MCI also established an on-site testing location at Dallas Love Field Airport, offering travelers the ability to test prior to departure. With more than 180 flights departing daily—the majority requiring proof of a negative test or vaccination—this initiative became an essential part of keeping travelers and airport staff safe.

MCI’s contribution extended beyond airport operations. The organization owned and operated the first-ever contactless COVID-19 drive-through testing facility, which processed up to 1,000 tests per day. Local homeless shelters, schools, and community organizations also entrusted MCI with their testing needs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to serving all members of the community.

“The thoughtfulness and caring nature the City of Dallas demonstrated during a season of uncertainty and fear truly amplified the city’s dedication to its people,” said Dr. Payne-Nabors. “MCI Diagnostic Center is proud to have been part of a partnership rooted in compassion, innovation, and public service.”

Though the pandemic forever changed lives, the collaboration between MCI Diagnostic Center, the City of Dallas, and the Department of Aviation stands as a testament to what can be accomplished through unity, purpose, and science. MCI remains deeply honored to have played a part in this critical chapter of Dallas’s public health response.
